Happy Thanksgiving!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

We celebrated our first Thanksgiving in our new home – and we count ourselves SO blessed!  The Christensen and Bateson family attended evan-zaida-sitting-11-21.jpgand to top things off we had friends come in from California to celebrate with us.  Vicki, Chris, Steve, Nalaina and (most importantly) Zaida came to spend the holiday time with us.  We had a full house!  It had been eight months since we left California – we had missed our friends terribly and it was great to share Thanksgiving with them.  Zaida has grown SO much and is busy moving about – she's giving Evan a run for the money.  Evan wasn't quite sure what to think of Zaida and her invading his territory – it took him the first day to adjust to having her around – but they quickly became very good friends.

harpers-in-the-snow-11-23.jpgOne of our outings was going up to the mountains so Zaida and everyone else could see snow – it hadn't snowed yet down in the valley.  It was VERY cold!  We were all pretty wimpy in the snow – we quickly got out of the van, snapped a few pictures, and were back in the van before you could say 'cheese' .

Thanksgiving is a time to count your blessings and to be thankful – I was so happy to be able to look around the dinner table and see the faces of people that I love and care for.  It was a BIG HAPPY NELSON THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy Halloween! It’s BAT-TIME!

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Evan was Batman this year for Halloween.  He wasn't quite sure what he thought of the costume but of course Chris and I got a kick out of it.  We dressed him up and took him to a near by pumpkin patch.  Chris' work also had a Trick or Treat time at the end of the day on Halloween – so Evan got to venture out of the bat cave and trick or treat around the office and then we came home and proceeded to trick-or-treat around the neighborhood.  After the first two or three houses Evan started to get the hang of it – you walk up to the door, yell really loud, someone comes to the door, you hold out your bucket, and they put goodies in it.  The only problem is that once they person opened the door – Evan wanted to go inside.  He got rather upset when we pulled him back and told him he couldn't go inside.  Evan also had fun being papa's helper passing out candy – well, he was more like the 'doorman' – I mean 'doorbat'.  Chris would open the door and pass out the candy and the second the kids were done getting their candy Evan was ready for his cue to close the door.  He is quite the helper!  Sometimes TOO much the helper!  Evan had a great time and for those concerned seeing all of the candy in the pictures – Evan did not consume all of the candy – his parents gladly helped him eat it!
