Great Grandma’s Visit
Saturday, June 16th, 2007No, no, OH no
Monday, June 11th, 2007Evan has been busy (as usual) learning new things all the time. Chris and I have begun to use the word 'no' and enforcing more discipline as Evan is exploring more of his world and boundaries. This past week Evan begun to repeat back to us 'no, no, no' – it first began as a 'nah' but now it is a distinct 'no'. He uses it randomly, throughout the day, I'm sure it's just a matter of time when he talks back at us. This boy is a VERY strong willed, stubborn child – just like his parents. God help us!
One, two, three, four, five – I’m losing track
Friday, June 8th, 2007It finally happened – Evan has begun to master the art of walking. Once he learned to stand up on his own – I knew it was just a matter of time until he was off and running. Evan is now taking multiple steps that I'm losing track of how many he has done. It is so precious to watch the concentration on his face as he carefully stands up – catches his balance – and then walks forward a few steps – takes a break – and walks a few more – cautiously moving each foot forward.
“Eeeeooohh.”
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007That's Evan's rendition of E-I-E-I-O… "Eeeeoooh."
He's so very serious about it too, it's priceless.
Yay, we’re home!
Tuesday, June 5th, 2007Welp, we've moved in and unpacked about 75% of the boxes. Sue and I love our house- so much space compared to SoCal. It's really great. Evan is adjusting quite well to the move- he's crawling around and exploring ever nook and cranny. He's learned how to climb up and DOWN the four steps leading from he dining area to the family room. Only one fall so far, but he took that in stride.
Pictures will have to wait until I get clearance from Sue. She wants more pictures and stuff up on the walls first.
Up, up, and up
Friday, June 1st, 2007Evan is standing up on his own! Up to this point he would use whatever supports around him (the wall, the chair, the couch, my leg) to grab on to and pull himself up. Well, he can now do it without any help. He was out on the yard of our new house with my two nephews (Brandon & Steven). They were playing and laughing and showing Evan how to push himself up. Evan is a quick learner – he pushed his butt up into the air – straightened his legs – then he straightened his arms – and then he pushed off the ground and then he was standing. It was quite a sight to see – my son is gaining his independence more and more. As a parent I want to see my son grow and develop -but it also pulled on the heart strings that he is growing and doesn't need me as much any more. Being a parent is an emotional roller coaster!
