It’s ours!

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

We now legally own our house!  We were able to take legal possession on Sunday the 27th at 5:00 p.m..

We are moving in on June 2nd and have been preparing the house.  We've painted two walls so far (red in the living room and green in the master bedroom) and hung some chandeliers in the dining area and living room.  We will post more pictures once we are done.

Also, last night we did yard work.  I was busy pulling weeds as Chris mowed the lawn – the sound of the mower and the smell of gasoline made me happy.  It was a great feeling to know that we were working on 'our' yard – and this was 'our' house. It brought a smile to my face to know we were finally home!

One… Two… Three STEPS

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Evan is becoming more and more secure on his feet.  He has now taken a total of 3 steps in a row on his own.  Anyday now he will be running – heaven help us!

Give me flavor!

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Evan has discovered that he prefers foods with some flavor.  He REALLY likes garlic – I gave him some noodles with butter and garlic and he sucked them down so fast!  He also likes spaghetti sauce and chili.  Evan has transitioned to table food almost completely.  He doesn't care for vegetables (probably like most kids) but he will still eat the mushed up baby vegetable food.  Evan is also pretty much off the bottle and uses sippy cups or cups with straws.  He still likes his bottle at night before he goes to bed – we will probably take him off it after the move – trying to keep some things the same for him with all of the changes going on.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Nelson Family on Mothers Day07 5-13-2007 12-10-06 PM Happy Mother's day to our dear mother's and to all of our friends that are or soon will be mother's!

It was such a joy being able to celebrate a 2nd Mother's day with my little boy.  Being a mother is a joy and a challenge – the good and not so good.

It was also nice being able to celebrate the day with my mother and attend a Mother's day brunch.  My appreciation for my mother has grown by leaps and bounds since I've been a mother myself.  Being a mother is a special and demanding responsibility – to have a life totally dependant on you can be sometimes exhausting and overwhelming.  But it can also be exciting and heart lifting – especially when he flashes a smile at me or leans in to give me a kiss – my heart skips a beat!

Evan – I am glad to be your mother and look forward to many more Mother day celebrations with you!

It finally happened!

We have so much good news to report!  Chris secured a job and starts next Monday – he is SO thrilled about the position and the technology that he'll be using.

In addition to the new job – WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!   We were so blessed to find a wonderful home – built in 2002 – and it fits so much what we were hoping/looking for to have in our new home.  It is a 2 story home with a finsihed basement.  The yard is beautiful and plenty of room for Evan to play in.  We also have extra room for guests and hoping to have visitors soon!  Here's a picture of the outside – more to come.

The wave has begun!

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Evan waved for the first time yesterday.  We were out to lunch and a little boy (about 3 years old) was smiling and waving at Evan.  In response, Evan put his hand up and waved it back and forth.  I was so proud!  Grandma has been helping Evan learn to wave and now he can do it.

Where’s my bellybutton?

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Right there!  Evan has also discovered his bellybutton.  He likes to pull up his shirt and tug at his belly and poke at his bellybutton – he's very fascinated by it.  He was wearing a onsie yesterday and wasn't able to pull it up over his tummy and got frustrated because he couldn't get to his bellybutton – today he is in a tee shirt and happy to find his belly once more.
