It’s beginning to sound a lot like ‘ma-ma’

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

The day Evan and I had taken off for Utah he had looked at me and said  'ma-ma' – typically when he's rambeling he will repeat the syllabel multiple of time such as  'ma-ma-ma-ma' but he only said it twice. My heart jumped thinking he might have just called me by my name but I didn't want to get my hopes up – could be he was just rambeling in shorter syllabels.

Well, while we were in Utah – quite often if one of my family members was holding Evan and if I walked out of the room he would get anxious and call out 'ma-ma' – also during the night (we were sleeping in the same room) if he woke up he would stand in the crib, look my direction and call out 'ma-ma'.

It is incredible to hear my child call out for me – Evan has been practicing his 'da-da' as well but hasn't quite mastered the letter P to say 'pa-pa' – I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Evan, Lord of Destruction

Okay, that might be overstating it a bit.

Evan got these really cool 'Magnetix'-type thing for toddlers by Mega Bloks called Magtastik that are very fun!

It is MY job to build a structure (the higher the better) and Evan's job to demolish said structure as quickly as possible, typically before I even finish!

My little Mozart

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Both Chris and I come from musical families – we both sing and play instruments.  It is my hope that our children will be interested in music as well.  Evan had his first experience of playing the piano – and the results are in – he was absolutely fabulous!  Yes, I'm a little bias!  Below is a picture of him playing on the grandparent's piano – this is the same piano that I learned to play on many years ago and have great memories of hitting all the keys and making noise.  My parents purchased him a 'baby grand piano' as seen below – Evan enjoys hitting the keys that light up and play songs.  Evan is such a mistro!

Snowmen Wonderland

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

Well, as many of you know I have a slight obsession with snowmen and collecting them. This year I had fun subjecting my son to his first 'Snowmen Wonderland'

Evan and Snow

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

Evan was intrigued by this odd white stuff he kept seeing around everywhere- but he wasn't really interested, which is odd for him.

Maybe he thought that people in Utah left alot of white packing material around and didn't want to seem rude by commenting on it.  ;)

Christmas Eve

Sunday, December 24th, 2006

Evan started to get sick on Christmas Eve but we made the most of it and opened a few presents before he went to bed.  He hasn't quite mastered the art of unwrapping presents but he loves to chew on wrapping paper.  Thank you to all of our family members for the gifts.  Evan is having fun exploring and playing with all of his new things – though, quite honestly, he finds the boxes that the toys came in more fascinating then the actual toys.

Sick Baby

Saturday, December 23rd, 2006

There's nothing quite as pathertic as a baby whose nose is packed FULL of snot and doesn't know how to blow.

Poor guys is MISERABLE.

… and, I might add- he's liberally spreading the misery AROUND, too.  :(
