6 Month Check-Up
Wednesday, September 20th, 2006Happy Birthay to Evan – he is six months old! Wow, half a year old – where has the time gone? Excited to report – Evan's check up went well. His stats were very impressive. Are you ready for this? He now weighs 22.2 pounds and is 29 inches long. Since his last check up on August 3rd he has gained 2.2 pounds and one inch. Surprisngly, his growth has slowed down. In the beginning he was gaining a pound a week for the first month and a half – now he's gaining less then half a pound per week. The doctor said his stats were off the charts – of course – Evan is off the charts on everything! He's one amazing dude!
Food…yummy!
Wednesday, September 20th, 2006It finally happened – Evan finally had his first taste of solid food. This past week, we introduced Evan to rice cereal. His facial expressions were priceless. He wasn’t quite sure what to think of the strange, thick substance in his mouth. The first feeding didn’t last too long – Evan was bored after just a few spoon fulls of cereal. Over the last few days I have steadily increased the amount of cereal – Evan seems to be enjoying it more and it has been a lot easier keeping some in his mouth.
Here are a few pictures from his first feeding of solid foods:
What a monkey!
Saturday, September 9th, 2006Evan has been quite busy trying to discover his world. He's quite fearless – which is putting me on even more constant alert. All of the sudden he'll arch his back to look over his head or he will throw his weight to the side so he can try to grab something. When he's on his own on the floor he's starting to roll over multiple times and move a good distance. Here's a great picture of him trying to wiggle out of my arms. He's already a hand full and he's not even walking yet!
Tooth update
Friday, September 8th, 2006First hair cut
Tuesday, September 5th, 2006While my mom was visiting we took Evan to get his first hair cut. I don't know many five month olds that need a haircut but Evan likes to do things differently. He's very advanced in his learnings and development – he's absolutely amazing! Evan did great with his haircut. He did cry out when they put him in a booster chair that only had a small belt around it to support him. He's not quite ready yet to sit up on his own – the stylist thought he was older then five months. So, I held Evan during his haircut. Evan behaved like a little gentleman and the stylist was very quick – good thing because Evan kept moving his head around. The results were pretty good – the only down side was that I didn't have anything covering me and had little hairs all over my shirt and pants.
I was so proud of how Evan did – right when his haircut was finished there was a kikd across from us (probably 2 or so) that was screaming bloody murder. I felt for his mom.
Well, here are before and after shots on the same day.

Clean Cut Boy!
Saturday, September 2nd, 2006Finally got the boy a haircut! 'Bout time too! (see prior post)
Mom and Grandma Christensen brought him while I was on business in Arizona.
He did a great job and didn't cry at all!
Happy clean-cut boy!
Visit from Grandma Christensen
Friday, September 1st, 2006
Grandma Christensen came to visit. Chris had to go on a business trip to Arizona. I didn't feel
quite prepared being on my own for 72 hours with Evan so I put a call into the parents. They were able to work it out and my mom came to visit us for 5 days. We had such a great visit. It had been over 4 months since Evan and Grandma saw each other. It was nice having the extra help and being able to sleep – I don't sleep well when Chris isn't around. Also, had a chance to eat out a few times – the Christensens are infamous when it comes to eating out. Since little Evan came I don't get out often due to his napping schedule and he will only sleep in his bed – but mom and I made it out a few times which was nice. Thanks mom for coming and getting me out of the house! Miss you alraedy.
