Developmental Test Today

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

Evan has a Developmental test at the Neuro Clinic this afternoon.

He's such an alert kid- He soakes up everything around him- always watching what's going on. I'm sure they will pass him with flying colors.

Besides, I've been helping him study! :D

Allright- I do confess I am nervous.  Poor guy wasn't breathing for 5 minutes and no heartbeat for 1 minute.

We love you little buddy.  I know you're brilliant.

We'll let you know how it goes tonight.

3 PM UPDATE: Thank the Lord, Evan's wonderfully FINE.

He's 20 lbs now! And 28 inches long!

Passed every test thrown at him, that cute little guy.  His official scores:

Bayley Scales of Infant Development
Mental Index: 5 1/2 months
Psychomotor Index: 5 months
Behavior Index: normal
Neuromotor: normal muscule tone and movement patterns

What frabjous day!  Calloo Callay!  :)

We've known he was smart- but it's good to have a professional agree with us.
The testing process was pretty neat.  The testor/nurse/doctor/whatever waved a bunch of different things (a pencil sized stick, a pair of cubes, a ring on a string, a rattle, etc) in front of Evan and watched his response-  He did what he does best and tried to grab it and stuff it in his mouth.  If I knew that was on of the main testing criteria, I would have been far less nervous.  Evan is a master at cramming things into his mouth and gnawing (well gumming) on them.  Go boy, GO!

There was some testing of visual tracking and turning toward noises as well.  Evan is a very alert kid- and the testor mentioned as much, too.

Sue and I are much relieved.  We love Evan so and are so happy he's doing so well.

Thank you for your prayers.
